Quit ya bitchin’!

We all have one of those days where everything seems to be going the opposite of how we want it.  So, we go Tweet or post a status on Facebook, hoping someone comments making our day better and venting a little to get out our frustrations.  On the other hand, for those of us who are trying to stay positive throughout the day and manage to see a whiny post…it comes to that point in time where we just think, “Really…shut up….”

For those readers who are up to date on my current health situation, you know I took this semester off to take care of my health issues, spending 2011 so far between doctors and traveling to and from Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville,FL.  I’ve come to realize as much as my life isn’t the most amusing right now, I certainly know I definitely have had it worse before and there are others out there who would be lucky to feel how I do at the moment.  A year ago, I had 2 tubes sticking out of my stomach to feed me.  So when I see a status like one of these…ugh.  The following statuses are some reasons why people get put on limited profile.

One of the comments said, “It gets better I promise, teenage years are the worst ever.  But then, the world is your oyster!”

Yea, worst Friday ever!  Ughhh…not like I spent my 21st birthday in the hospital getting surgery.

I’m so glad you could update us between your 5 seconds of breathing.  Thank you.

The above two statuses are from the same person… Maybe you should smoke off your frustrations instead of posting on Facebook.  (I am in no way condoning smoking…please don’t smoke!)

This user proceeded by posting her ER discharge summary which stated instructions to take “Tylenol”.  Maybe if you didn’t go to a hospital unless it was medically necessary, you would appreciate them a little more.

And my TOP “Quit ya bitchin’!” status documented so far is…

To those of you who may have seen your status on here and have been offended, all I have to say is… Quit ya bitchin’!  Oh, and thank you for your entertainment. 🙂

With Love,

The Cupcake Experience and “The Face”…indepth.

Step 2: Taste

Step 3: Say,”MMMMMMMM

Thank you to my mom for not only making me feel like the best cupcake baker ever known to the planet, but for allowing me to put these photos on the internet!  😉

Chocolate Pudding filled Chocolate Cupcake with Chocolate Fudge Icing

*I substituted Hershey’s Special Dark coco powder instead of the regular kind, as well as skim milk instead of whole milk.

I had SO much fun making these cupcakes and enjoyed getting a glimpse of what the incredibly talented bakers attempt throughout Cupcake Wars.  Not only were they fairly easy, but DELICIOUS!  The only downside was they were incredibly messy!  Worried that the cupcakes would be too chocolate-y, I was hesitant as my family began to eat them.  After trying them myself, we all agreed….PERFECTION! 😀

Snail Mail? What’s that?

Having a lot of free time, I decided I wanted to send Valentines cards out to my friends.  Although this isn’t something I’ve done since middle school, not only would it make me happy by bringing back old memories, but who wouldn’t smile when they see a cute little Valentines card from a good friend?  Other than those who are dealing with bad break ups, but hopefully they’ll at least appreciate my Valentines thoughts.

And as I was writing these letters I realized a few things.  First, I felt a overwelming sort of happiness from just telling a friend a story or reminiscing on an old memory.  It made me so incredibly happy writing an actual letter.  Secondly, my hands started hurting REAL bad!  So I took a break…hahah.  Third, the last time I wrote letters like this was in elementary school where we had to send our pen pals in other classes notes.

Why can’t we bring this back?  As much as I love email, the web, Facebook, and the immediacy of the technology…the personal letter writing seems so much more meaningful.  I think about old stories of my Dad in the Army or my grandpa’s stories of war, and they always wrote letters.  We would sit by the mail box HOPING for a letter from my dad when he was deployed.  Now…I don’t check the mail because it’s going to be bills.  Well, except for the first of the month, when my disability check comes 😉

 Just something to ponder… 🙂

I want to be on Top Chef!

With all of my free time, I’ve watched almost every single show on television.  For some reason, I’ve really developed a liking for these cooking shows.  From Top Chef, to Cupcake Wars, to Chopped…I’m hooked!  So, I’ve started cooking and baking a lot more.  The other night I made this DELICIOUS Pecan-Glazed Salmon for my mom.  I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed cooking and baking and tasting my creations.  My favorite is what I like to call, “The face”.  It’s the face the person makes after they first bite into your food.  Rachel and my mom have been very nice and have made over the top faces of approval…even though Rachel doesn’t eat salmon.  So I think I found my new hobby! 🙂

Great commercial!!

If this commercial doesn’t make you smile, forgive me!  Nothing makes me happier than to see my pets smile, but to see these dogs…priceless.  So cute!

This is one of my dogs, Dolly.  She smiles too 🙂 Especially during her bath!

Beauty and The B*tches

THAT should be this seasons subtitle for The Bachelor!  This is the first season of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette that I’ve watched from the very beginning.  Although, the only reason I started watching this season is because of the clip they showed on The Soup.

Yea, I thought Joel McHale was spot on with his accent and the montage of him recalling his previous experience was a LITTLE over the top, but when I saw the vampire model….I HAD to see what that was about.

"The Vampire Model"

So after watching the first 4 episodes of this season of ABC’s The Bachelor, I’ve come to a few conclusions…

ONE- I am SUCH a sucker for people finding and creating their own love story and that is why I, and so many other people, LOVE it.
TWO- I’m pretty sure part of the application process requires you to write your biggest fear.  For instance, in this weeks episode, Chantal goes on a one-on-one date with Brad.  On the date, he flies her to a romantic island and tells her she’s going to walk on the ocean floor.  Sounds like a blast to me!  But wait…Chantal admits to the camera, “I am terrified of ocean water.”  (Really? Water? I understand Sharks, but water?? That’s like saying you have a fear of saline.)  In this same episode, when black-eyed Michelle is given a chance to go on a one-on-one date she is flown to a roof of an extremely high building in the city.  Brad points down to the pool on the first floor and tells her, “That’s where we are eating dinner.”  Michelle, of course, is afraid of heights and almost refuses to repel off the building.  Brad eventually convinces her to do it and they conquer their fears together.  These are just two cases proving my point, so maybe next week we will see yet another woman face her biggest fear.  **Crossing my fingers for The Bachelor goes Fear Factor!!
THREE- My friend Jackie and I have this running joke that I am applying to be on this show one day.  It’s half a joke, but half  not.  I’d do it!  My thing is, I look at the girls who do NOT get chosen at the end, after already going on amazing dates with the bachelor, and I wonder…How is any other date going to compare after you have a private concert with Train? Or have a private jet come pick you up?  I have got to find men not from Tallahassee…[ To the men out there: I’m Jewish and love to travel to tropical places 😉 ]

Overall, I must give ABC’s The Bachelor a 6/10
It airs Monday nights on ABC at 8pm

Welcome to my television gossip blog! :D

Turning 21 less than six months ago seems like it would be a wonderful time, unfortunately due to a rare disease called Systemic Scleroderma that I’ve been battling with since I was 13, my health took a turn for the worst this winter and I’ve slowly gone from social butterfly dancing at the country western club and competing at the college level forensics speech and debate tournaments, to hospitalization after hospitalization.  I decided during winter break, when lung transplantation was discussed with multiple doctors, that I needed to take some time and focus on my health.  I dropped my classes, and have been taking it easy in 2011-hoping to get back to my old self soon.  So while I’ve been recovering, (or what I like to called hibernating) I have been watching SO much television and movies!  Wanting to go into entertainment or communications one day, my friend Jackie and I decided, what better way to both entertain people and do what I love then watch all my favorite shows and then blog about them.  So that’s what this blog is about.  When I see a new episode of a tv show, watch a new movie, or catch a glimpse of an interesting story or video, I’ll post it on here and rate it so you can decide if it’s worth your time by actually watching it. Hope you enjoy it and hope it entertains you 🙂

“Rachel’s Birthday Video with Hugh Jackman and John Kay”

I was watching Oprah last week when she was in Australia and she brought up this couple, Rachel and Kristian Anderson.  Their story touched my heart.  He’s been battling cancer and had to quit his job and now she supports him and the family.   One reason why Oprah heard about them was because of Kristian’s YouTube video love letter to his wife.  It is one of the most beautiful, touching, heartfelt videos I have ever seen.   May 2011 bring the Anderson family many blessings as they continue to fight the battle over liver and bowel cancer.

I will be the first to admit to anyone, I absolutely LOVE this show!  It has everything I look for in a reality TV show…transformation, elimination, cat fights, tears, and pain.  This EXTREMELY controversial new E! reality competition is just like any normal reality television show…contestants live in a house together, competing to win the grand prize…EXCEPT, the grand prize and the winner each week receives a plastic surgery of their choice.  This manipulating “drama” is almost a combination of The Swan and Survivor….except the only thing they have to survive is the cattiness of the other girls.  Throughout the season you see one girl go home each week, as the ladies go through wedding challenges to be one step closer to having their dream wedding.   Shanna Moakler hosts the show, and although she does a decent job at it, I still can’t forget about her over publicized on again off again marriage, and divorce with Travis Barker from Blink 182.  But, Bridalplasty is hosted by former beauty queen Shanna Moakler… Isn’t that a little odd…wouldn’t it be more appropriate if she hosted You’ll still need those surgeries after your divorce, instead?  E!, I think I just got you a sequel!

But with only the finale left to air, I definitely suggest if you have free time and want to be amused by some interesting characters, watch this.  I give Bridalplasty a 8.5/10 for creativity alone.  Airs on E! Sundays at 9pm

The following video shows one of the most entertaining challenges the brides to be were faced with.
